I recently wanted to revamp and expand one of my oldest python scripts now updated to version 2.5 complete with image converting in batch, re-exporting for different games engines, splitting and merging channels alongside texture atlasing creation to one sheet. Built with PyQt for a easy to use interface with robust error handling.
